MY HOSPITAL ORDEAL.

I relentlessly my drink whilst listening to my father on the other side of the call.I was getting my daily dose of village gossip from him.”You know that lady…..”His voice rasped on but I couldn’t hear him.Sometjing shifted in my chest area and suddenly I was in pain.My chest throbbed as my tummy simultaneously started aching.

I ignored the pain and dad and I continued with the banter.A few minutes later I’d end the call, swallowed paracetamol as I scrolled.I was in pain. My chest cavity throbbed as the ache in my tummy pulsated rhythmically. I was sure that it would pass, but this was not the case. I switched positions in bed, adding a couple of pillows for support,I even got myself a cup of warm water but nothing aided. The pain kept tormenting me.

Neither the drug nor my antics helped.I decided to hop onto a cab,my destination the Nairobi West Hospital.I thanked God for my job and the health cover that comes with it.It is at this healthcare institution that I would spend an hour before being attended to reason being the fact that their was only one doctor coupled with a litter of nurses who seemed useless to say the least.

Two hours later and a chest X-ray I decided to leave for a different hospital as the same doctor was in a surgery and would not tend toe any time soon.My this time,my pain was at a 10/10 having not only puked but also diarrhoed whilst waiting.

Did I mention that I was racing against time as the curfew is at 10?
